Pictures of War and Peace
Designer, author and historian Steven Heller has published a remarkable collection of war-related posters and drawings. The interpretation varies with the times but the theme remains constant. Take a look at these fascinating and powerful images. Pictures of War and Peace – Print Magazine.
Very good collection, particularly the Seymour Chwast’s poster you used in your post. Thanks for sharing it.
I loved the Robert Osborn image as well…so simple and powerful. And the Daumier drawing is incredible, and so far ahead of its time it looks like it could have been a Herblock political cartoon from a newspaper in the 1960’s. Thanks for commenting!
I was amazed with the 1960s posters. Have never seen them before. They are so relevant today. Is it OK with you it I get ‘War and Peace’ posters re-posted in my blogo-collection at http://otrazhenie.wordpress.com/2014/03/06/pictures-of-war-and-peace/ with a link to you post?
Sure. I’m glad you enjoyed the post. (By the way, it’s “Josh” not “John” Freeman. Thanks!)
Ooops, I’ll get it corrected ASAP. Good spotting 🙂
