Creating a relationship with the Fortune 500
Earth Technology was one of the nation’s premiere geosciences consulting firms. But their market research showed surprisingly low name recognition among top executives at the Fortune 500 companies who constituted much of their client base.
They knew that getting a CEO’s attention about a subject as esoteric as the geosciences would be a difficult task. And getting a direct mail piece past the CEO’s secretary would be even tougher. So they came to us for a recommendation.
What we did
We commissioned corporate photographer Jeff Corwin (Time, Fortune) to do a series of limited edition, black & white, old-school photographic prints, each individually signed and numbered. Then we packaged each print in its own elegant portfolio. A brief article, printed on the translucent cover sheet, made an understated connection between the image and a particular service provided by the company.
Results
Awareness of Earth Technology and its capabilities increased dramatically among its target audience. The mailing broke the “secretary barrier.” And the company received dozens of calls from potential clients, including calls from CEO’s asking to be added to the mailing list. With consulting fees of seven figures per project, the mailing paid for itself handsomely.
